Credentials aren't just
plaques on a wall.
Here's what ours actually mean.
WHY SHIELDED
Any contractor can say they do great work. These are the third-party organizations that have verified it — and more importantly, what each one means for your home and your project.
OUR CERTIFICATIONS
Earned, not bought.
MANUFACTURER CERTIFICATION
CertainTeed ShingleMaster Certified
CertainTeed is one of the most respected roofing manufacturers in North America. Their ShingleMaster certification isn't handed out — it requires installers to complete rigorous manufacturer training and demonstrate installation competency to a standard most contractors never pursue.
Only a small percentage of roofing contractors in any market hold this designation. Shielded is one of them.
What this means for you: A CertainTeed ShingleMaster certified install qualifies for their SureStart PLUS warranty — which covers both the materials and the labor if something goes wrong. A non-certified installer can't offer you that warranty. That's the difference.
BUSINESS ACCREDITATION
Better Business Bureau Accredited
BBB accreditation means Shielded has met the BBB's standards for trust including a commitment to make a good-faith effort to resolve customer complaints, transparency in business practices, and honest advertising.
It's not automatic. Businesses apply, get vetted, and have to maintain their standards to keep it.
What this means for you: If something ever goes sideways, which we work hard to prevent, you have an independent third party to escalate to. It's accountability that lives outside of us. That matters.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT - VERIFIED
Fully Licensed & Insured
In Kentucky, residential contractors are required to be licensed and carry liability insurance. That sounds like a baseline — and it is. But you'd be surprised how many homeowners hire unlicensed contractors and only find out when something goes wrong.
What this means for you: If a worker is injured on your property and the contractor isn't insured, you could be liable. If work is done improperly and the contractor isn't licensed, your recourse is limited. With Shielded, neither of those scenarios applies.
BEYOND THE PAPERWORK
The things credentials don't capture.
We show up when we say we will.
No credential covers this. We just think it's the minimum a homeowner deserves.
We're actually local.
Louisville-based crew. We've worked in your neighborhood. We're not a national franchise that happens to service your zip code.
We communicate throughout.
You'll know what's happening on your roof before, during, and after. No radio silence. No surprises.
We stand behind the work.
If something's wrong after we leave, we come back and fix it. No ghosting, no excuses, no "that's not covered."
See what certified work looks like on your home.
Free inspection, honest assessment, no pressure. That's the Shielded standard.
No commitment required. We respond within one business day.
